Using Google Hangouts for Learning
Google Hangouts connect our students with people worldwide. Like Skype, Google Hangouts let us see, hear and talk to other people via the internet. We can also share our desktop, record the event, snap photos and collaborate on a Google document.
We learned computer programming, talked about books, asked a volcanologist questions, met students from Mexico, Wisconsin, and the Big Island and even performed a chant! Learn more by clicking the images below. |
Virtual Volcano Fieldtrip: Mrs. Durante's 4th graders learn, share and perform
Five schools participated in this collaborative learning: The Hawaiian Immersion program at Nanikuli Elementary,
UH Laboratory School, Hale Kula Elementary, Ke'eau Elementary on the Big Island, and Peterson School in Mexico City

Learning Turtle Art from Holualoa 2nd Graders, Part 1
Turtle Art is a computer coding program that lets you make images using basic commands. Students from Ms. Barte's 2nd grade class at Holualoa taught Ms. Uyehara's 2nd grade students the Turtle Art basics and invited us to try it out.
