What we need to do is make things more interesting maybe like when it is a spooky book we could decorate the library with fake cobwebs and like spooky trees so maybe like a theme.
Demetriana & Jessie
2/3/2017 09:02:38 am
Would you be able to set up the decorations in time, under budget? And if you could, you would have to take it down quickly, but not ruin it so you can hurry and do the next theme. :D

That is a great idea Taylan and Alani, but wouldn't that detract every one?

Lily

That is a really good idea. It would bring more life to the book.

Have one chapter of the book each day. Do it one month and have it the next month too so they have time to finish the book. Do it twice a week in case someone isn't able to make it.
Cristian and Kahlani
2/3/2017 09:03:30 am
If they read a chapter each day, they won't be able to tell the interesting parts.

Our table thought that we could let the students pick their own books. You could let them email you or something, by saying the book they want to share. Then you can reply to them, accepting their book or telling them what other books they can read to lead a discussion. They can either accept or reject the book. That's what our table table decided.

This idea sound great , but what if the don't know who to e-mail Mrs. Colte or if the didn't have time , because there teachers didn't give them time or they don't have computers at home.

Thats why we said or somthing

That is a great idea because it will catch the 5th graders atetion and we think that is a really really good idea
Jessie and Demetriana (A-2)

I think you should take into consideration that it might be too hard for the person getting all the emails. If all the students in the school want to read their own book, and some of them are bad, then that's wrong. And you don't want to flood their emails with book suggestions, either. I think it would take too much time to answer all the emails to accept them or deny them, and with all the time spent replying to emails, the people would barely have any time to do some work.

Good idea but some books are not a Nene and some aren't appropate

We think that we should put up a sign up sheet , so kids could sign up with there own book that they want to bring and talk about. Then you could read the comments and tell them what date they can do it and if they can not do. This is are change by having a sign up sheet and rejecting or excepting and schuldeing dates.

We can try to make more 5th graders come by making things more entertaining. We can do that by making decorations that goes with the story. We can also do that by expanding the genres for more readers.
Taylan and Alani
2/3/2017 09:02:20 am
I think you should consider what the cost is going to be and who is going to do it
Demetriana & Jessie (A-2)
2/3/2017 08:56:50 am
Maybe we could give students free stuff so they would come, like a t-shirt, or just candy or something. Rheana suggested that we make flyers, or sign up sheets for the school, one for each class. It can either be printed on the computer so all the classes have the same, or have them drawn by students so they're all unique and different. I also think we could do a buddy system, so for every one or two fourth graders there should be one fifth grader, but I also think that it might cause problems because you said that almost all the fourth graders went to the Nene discussions while the fifth graders didn't really come, except for this Trevor person.
Kaylee & Zanai
2/3/2017 09:02:44 am
We agreed with everything you said but, for giving out stuff, might cost to much, or bribe them to come. ( not to be rude )
Jordan E. and Isaiaah A-2
2/3/2017 09:08:27 am
Even though that would make more people come, how much would it cost? The buddy system would appeal to some, but not all.

maybe should add more books that 5th graders can relate to
Cristian
2/3/2017 08:57:59 am
We should let kids come in any time even when they didn't finish the book.
Rheana & Antonio
2/3/2017 09:00:33 am
We are thinking about printing a paper too sign up and going around the 5 grade classes and then giving them a sign up paper. The people that signed up can get a pass too come too the libary and listen. Another idea we have is bring treats because a lot of fifth graders like to come. The last idea is if you are going you can bring a friend so there can be more people.

We think that we could maybe set up posters to attract more people because we always have to walk in the hallways to get to places, so then classes will pass them and they will want to go. Another idea that we had was that maybe there could be a system where every time you go and you read the book you get a little green slip of paper and with that paper, once you have saved up three, you can buy a raffle ticket and at the end of the month, 2 people will be picked to get a goody bag that is filled with candy.

We can make this better by having more chapter books. Also having more chapter books.

We think that we should make posters for all around the school. The Nene Award book chats are not having many peolpe so, that's why we want to make posters for all around the school. Are second idea is to print out fake money and give them out to the people who came. Each person will get two because they read the book and came. Every three book chats there will be a rafull to pick and put in a box. At the end of the month someone will pull out two tickets and the prize is a little goody bag.

You have to buy the raful ticket and it is 6 dollars. Then they will put it in the box.

I think we should do a Roleplay with Costumes

2/3/2017 10:45:45 am
I think we should decorate for the book discussion so it"s themed to the book. Like for Took a scary theme. Also you could get a little certifacate saying I participated in the Nene book discussion. Also you could put posters around the school reminding people.

What we agreed on was, When people go to a lunch time pop up, they write or draw about there favorite part in the book.

We could have a few more books to choose from, or put a chalk board or a sign up sheet so students know that Mrs.Colt has lunchtime pop-ups and nene book discussions. You could also call it something different. I love the "chalk board" idea! Have kids decorate it and promote the weekly book! : )

I think we should do funnier and more exciting snacks with a big twist so it could attract more people to come.

2/3/2017 10:50:02 am
We need posters all over the school so people know that it exist, we need we can have a theme for each book so people will know what book it is,and if they do a good job they can chose a candy that they would like.

lets have a pringals challenge so heres how the challenge goes so you have to have 10 or how many you want then get a blindfold or a rag something like that then get a bowl or napkin to spit it out if you dont like the chip or the whole thing then you are going to need a score board to keep track of the points and the only way to win is to get the most points (aka) guess the most chip flavor. :D
zakiya and miranda are awesome and cool 0203
2/3/2017 10:54:15 am
our idea is that they need more food and they should have soda like root beer coke pepper and crush mostly pineapple crush we also need bacoon eggs chicken pancakes fried chicken and fried potatos and we also need pizza and a challenge that we do is that we can do the bean boozeled challenge and another challenge that we can do is the pizza challenge.

if we decorate at the library, Mrs. Colt could assign classes could decorate the nene discussion. Another idea is that, we could put posters up on the walls for each months of the year. We can do activites with the book discussion.

We should keep it,because it is fun also we could make posters/flyers.
Kaliana A1
2/3/2017 11:32:39 am
I think that we should make little figures or we could do arts and crafts about the book. Like the book roller girl we should have done little figures of the character or the book! That is my idea.
Ava and Carson A1
2/3/2017 11:33:10 am
lots of people like to do art but yet they are silent. So maybe adding a point in the discussion were you can draw your favorite scene or make a 3D model of your favorite character.
Kylah Layla Carlos Trenton
2/3/2017 11:34:31 am
The thing that we should to do get people to go the nene discussion is that instead of a discussion we play charades or other games. We could put poster on the library door and bathroom/classroom doors or in the lunch room on the big stage. Comments are closed.
