Are you read to take the Kids Heart Challenge? The American Heart Association invites you and your family to jump on board & choose ways to Be Kind & Be Active.
How can you do that? Visit the website or download the app & find our school. Do Finn's mission to learn CPR and other healthy things you can do as a family. Help us meet our school goal of raising $500. That's really $1 from each of us! Choose ways to Be Kind & Be Active every day! Did you know soil is ALIVE? It is full of micro-organisms that keep it healthy. These microbes find nutrients and take it to the plants & trees. Soil is not dirt. There are thousands of different types of soil. Mr. Knowles is a soil conservationist. He has worked for 40 years, in 3 states and in 18 countries. He feels so lucky to travel around the world and meet so many people. The people he meets are always friendly. He helps people create healthy soil. How does he do this? He studies the soil & helps farmers keep their soil covered. "If you want to keep the soil healthy, you shouldn't see it." What can we do to keep soil healthy?
Kyrie has written and illustrated 6 books! How did she get started writing? She was walking to school one day and saw a bird in the tree. She thought, "I can write about birds." That first book inspired her to write her 2nd and 3rd books on Dogs and Cats. She wrote a fable called, The Dragon and the Mouse that teaches us you might be small but you can still be powerful. Her latest book is the beginning of a series: Spooky Stories: Under the Bed. Kyrie is a 2nd grader at our school. She will inspire you to start writing & illustrating books!

Ms. Duchow is a 1st grade SPED teacher at our school. If you see her at DKIES, say "hi!" She said, you can ask her about Diabetes. Ava is a 5th grader at our school. She is just like you and me.
